What makes the perfect set for a DJ? Should a DJ pre-prepare his/her set prior to playing a gig or should he/her play tracks purely dependent upon the crowd and the crowds reaction?

Tell us a bit about yourself (put your bio here if you have one): The closing track, Age of Love (Jam & Spoon Remix) - Age of Love, of only the second rave he ever attended in 1994, opened this classically trained musician to the world of Trance and Electronic music. Only after completing University, working in the family business did he finally realize his calling in life was his passion for music. He decided to move to Toronto, Canada in 2002 to pursue his musical aspirations, perfect the skills taught to him by legendary Calgary DJ Pauly Dee during his scholastic years. While in Toronto Mark landed a residency at Lo La's, spun at Pulse night club, 5ive nightclub, Byzantium, Vice, main stage for Pride Toronto June 2006. In the spring of 2006 Mark submitted his demo to Techno.FM, was awarded a weekly Live radio show (Bliss Tuesdays 3-5pm -5gmt). Finally finding a medium to expand his repertoire to a more European style of Trance and Progressive he decided to move to Montreal that fall to work more closely with the station. He has since become the Program Director/Manager of the Trance Channel.

Living in a more European minded city, having an international audience with his Live weekly show has allowed Mark to be able to branch out, find his groove, experiment in his sets. He is completely at ease with pumping a mixture of Progressive House/Trance/Minimal Techno as he is with reaching the heights of Epic/Vocal/Hard Trance. His unique style, tight mixing has a made his show one of the most listened to shows on www.Techno.FM. Having access to the wealth of experience, talented DJ's, Producers associated with the Techno.FM, Mark has been putting his years as a classical, jazz musician into electronic music production. 2008 has seen him finish his first remix for an R&B group in Miami with Ulrich Van Bell that has been released on Universal records June 1, 2008 "Buckwild (Spitfire Tribal Iguana RMX) - Anything But Monday. Mark has also released four original tracks (Sadness, Push, Dark Christmas,Addiction) on his own label (Kiss My Ass Records). His fifth release (Fucking Around) will be in stores Oct 31 2009. He has also released a remix on Hypnotrax Records "South to Northbridge (Mark Olney Remix) - Mike Pierce Dec 31 2009, has finished a remix for Bootse Records "Beta Carboline (Mark Olney Remix) - Aerobiotic Release date TBA. All tracks are available on trackitdown, juno downloads and other fine online records stores.
